Home boarding

This is the adorable Fozzie, who came to stay with us recently. Many of my customers are looking for home boarding for their dogs and in particular, would like a loving home away from home, rather than kennels. Amber (my little Cockapoo) and I live in a tradtional, two bedroom Lakeland cottage in the village of Windermere.

Amber loves having new friends to play with. She’s a very sociable and sweet-natured dog, always accepting and interested in our new arrivals. An important part of this is meeting any new dog on neutral ground first. We tend to meet new dogs in the nearby park or just down the road a little, near our house. The initial meet can set the tone for the entire relationship between dogs so I always insist on this for a positive experience for all.

I have to make sure I carefully match Amber with any dog that stays with us. She’s not such a fan of bouncy, bigger dogs as she’s very small and very submissive. This means she can get overwhelmed when dogs charge at her, even though it’s clear they just want to play. She likes her calm, quiet space to retreat to after a day out walking or running in the hills which usually means cuddled up to me or on my lap!

So with an initial play date in the park to see how the dogs interact, we can quickly create ideal doggie matches which make life happy in the house.
